Grand Re Opening of the New “Haze Gallery”
Haze Gallery Opens in new Old Town Space
The ribbon was cut and the Haze Gallery in Old Town Lansing is now open in its new home. On Friday, July 18, 2008 at 3 pm, friends, Old Town neighbors and loyal customers old and new applauded as owner Hazel Hotwagner and Mid Michigan’s Entertainment reporter Jim Fordyce picked up the scissors and ushered in a new era at Haze.
Haze Gallery was founded in 1996 by Hazel Hotwagner. She says: “The new space is great. Our Turner Street location puts us in the middle of everything. Whether it is Jazz or Blues fest, The Gallery Walk each month, or just a leisurely shopping trip, we’ll be here to welcome out customers.” Hotwagner says the retail operation is in front, and soon, the studio will be done in the back portion of the building. That’s when pottery classes and parties will resume.” The gallery, which features unique, arts, crafts, pottery, paintings and photographs from 33 local artists recently moved from Grand River Avenue to 1220 Turner Street. The new location is between Mama Bear’s Café and the Creole Gallery in the middle of Lansing’s Old Town section
Fordyce was delighted to be part of the fun. In addition to his duties putting together the popular web site www.MIentertainment.biz and his appearances on “Ebling and You” on 1320 WILS Radio, Fordyce is a featured photographer in the gallery. “I was walking by the gallery several years ago and met Hazel. We chatted a little and before I knew it my “Scenes of Michigan” photographs were selling from the walls.” said Fordyce. “I am so glad to see the Gallery in this nice new space.” Fordyce hinted that you may see live radio broadcast from the store very soon.
